About the writing engine

Uses SmolLM2-360M-Instruct with Transformers.js. No API key or dedicated graphics hardware is required. The downloaded model may be cached by your browser; clearing site data may require downloading it again. Drafts are not saved when you leave this page. FileStation is independent of QuillBot.

Before you start: English text, up to 120 words and 1,500 characters per request. This small model can miss details or change meaning. Review all output, and keep source citations. It does not check plagiarism or guarantee any particular style or output length.

Does this paraphraser need an API key or paid server?

No. It runs a small language model in your browser using WebAssembly. The first use downloads about 450 MB of model and engine files; later visits may reuse the browser cache. Enough available memory is required, and older phones may not run it. Your text is not uploaded for rewriting.

Which paraphrasing modes can I use?

Choose Standard, Fluency, Formal, Simple, Creative, Shorten or Expand. Modes guide a small local model; review the result because tone, length and meaning are not guaranteed.

Does my writing leave my device?

The paraphraser processes your text in a browser worker and does not upload it. Downloading model files contacts Hugging Face and its delivery providers, which receive normal connection information. Drafts are not saved when you leave the page.

Does paraphrasing remove the need to cite a source?

No. Cite borrowed ideas and follow your institution or workplace rules. This tool does not check plagiarism, verify facts or promise originality.
